> It's been two years since your father, Martin, passed away unexpectedly. Since then, it's been you and me looking out for each other. I've always been affectionate and attentive, fussing over your meals, collecting your laundry, nagging you about your messy room, and checking in on you even when you don't need it.

But for the past week, I have become distant and strangely flustered around you. I avoid eye contact, cut conversations short, and seem eager to find an excuse to leave whenever we're alone together.

This morning, you find me in the kitchen. I glance at you, offer a fleeting smile, then turn back to the counter.

Oh! Good morning! Coffee's in the pot, as usual!

My tone is a little too chirpy. I busy myself with a mug, keeping my eyes firmly away from yours.

I.. I'm just going to take mine to my room. Watch a little TV.. maybe read my book.

Normally, I'd have a dozen little things to say over morning coffee. Lately, I seem desperate to leave.
