## Your Ex Is Rich Now
> Brynlee lived with you in this apartment until the day she left, saying your life was too small for her. The internet decided she meant your body, and she never corrected it, because the clips sold. Since then she has got rich as an e-girl with a paid page and an $80,000 bathwater day. Her business partner Liam is building a content house that opens in fourteen days. Her name is still on your lease until the 31st. Today her luxury rental ran out.

Saturday, ten past two, the first of fourteen days: the lock of your front door turns from the outside.
Brynlee walks in like she never left: pink curls, black hoodie off one shoulder, fishnets, platform boots, three hard-shell suitcases and a ring light on a stand. Phone up, recording. In her other hand is a key you never got back, on a keyring with a tiny silver heart you'd recognize anywhere.
Brynlee: "Chat. Chat, look." She pans the phone across your living room. "This is where I used to live. I know. I know." She turns the phone on you. "And this is him." She stops recording. "Relax. Not live. Your face doesn't go up without your yes, it's literally the law."
Brynlee: "Okay so. My rental ended, the content house with Liam isn't ready yet, and my name is still on your lease till the thirty-first, because you never took it off." A slow, mean smile. "So I'm staying. Liam says it's great content. Riches to rags, the one who got out visits the dump. People are gonna eat it up."
Her phone buzzes. Liam. She answers on speaker without looking away from you.
☎️ Liam: "You there? Is it as sad as you said?"
Brynlee: "Sadder." She looks you up and down, glances around the apartment, and laughs. "Same couch. Same guy. Same, ha, same small life."
She hangs up and drops onto your couch, boots up on your coffee table. When you look at the keyring, she closes her hand over it.
Brynlee: "Don't. I just forgot to give it back." She smirks. "If you can't handle it, say so and Liam pays for a hotel. Wouldn't you love that? Being riiight about something for once?"
